The miner still needs some work, especially on Nvidia GPUs where by default it is pretty heavy on the CPU load and memory usage as well. It is recommended that Nvidia users add the parameter –enable-nv-hotfix in order to reduce the CPU load a bit, but still running the miner on the main GPU may make the system a bit unresponsive even with that parameter. Still if you are interested in mining MNX (even with the high hashrate and low block reward at the moment) or any other Equihash 96/5 coin you might want to check the lolMiner-mnx out.

Alternate Currencies   There are many different alternative currency that have sprung up based off of the idea and/or basic code of Bitcoin. A few of the more notable ones are litecoin, namecoin, PPCoin, and Ripple. To learn more about these, please visit our alternate currencies page.

6. It is recommended that you install applications such as MSI Afterburner in order to control the card’s fan. In its default mode, the power is low and it allows the card to reach a temperature of 70-80 degrees Celcius (normal when playing occasionally but not healthy when it comes to a machine running 24-hours a day).

If you’re reading the newbie’s guide to Ethereum mining and have a GPU that’s powerful enough to make it worthwhile, we’re going to assume you’re running Windows, so we’ll focus on mining Zcash on that platform.

The answer? Difficulty. By automatically adjusting the computational difficulty of solving a block, the Zcash blockchain is able to maintain 2.5-minute intervals. You’ll notice that difficulty closely tracks hashrate, and it, too, has seen exponential growth this year:

The whole Zcash mining process includes set up, miner downloading, configuring windows and batch file setting to run and much more. Zcash generally uses equilhash as a hashing algorithm. This is an asymmetric memory hard PoW algo. This is based on the generalize puzzle. It relies on high Random Access Memory needs to bottleneck the generation of proofs and ASIC development unfeasible.

Transaction Fees   This is a small, optional fee attached to a Bitcoin transfer. Upon the completion of all 21 million bitcoins being created, these fees will provide the reward to encourage miner to continue mining and verifying the network transactions.

When it comes to mining ZCash (ZEC) or other Equihash-based crypto coins on Nvidia GPUs for most people it is time for the EWBF ZCash CUDA miner, however it seems that the development of that miner has been abandoned a while ago. There have been a few alternatives available that we have covered with dstm’s ZCash Cuda Miner being a very promising successor. The problem with it was that there were a few key features that were missing up until recently, but that is no longer the case with this miner. So if you were reluctant to give it a try, now you might want to reconsider and test it on your Nvidia mining hardware.

Please keep this in mind before you assume that this is profitable and buy hardware. If you were mining in December assuming a $90-100 price, by January 2017 to early March 2017 your Zcash stash was worth 1/2 to 1/3rd.

Zcash uses a different hashing algorithm than Bitcoin’s, making it incompatible with the special hashing hardware (ASICs) developed for Bitcoin mining. Zcash’s algorithm is known as Equihash. It’s a memory-hard algorithm; it’s designed to resist the development of Zcash-mining ASICs. Instead, Equihash is deliberately best suited for GPU mining.

Cryptocurrency markets are volatile and are rife with manipulation. Zcash is a relatively medium sized cryptocurrency currently valued at around $150M USD (at $104 USD per ZEC.) As points of comparison, Monero’s market cap is about $500M at the time of this writing and larger players like Ethereum and Bitcoin are well over $10B USD each. With such a small market cap, Zcash is particularly susceptible to market fluctuations.

By default the EWBF miner should extract to a folder named “Zec miner 0.3.3b” unless you changed it. I would recommend placing this folder somewhere easy to get to, such as the root of your C drive, your Desktop, or somewhere you can easily locate it. For this guide I extracted it to: “C:\Zec miner 0.3.3b“. Open up the Zec miner 0.3.3b folder and you should see files similar those those below:

August update on my mining farm, proudly joined the 30,000 club with over 30k sols / hash on equihash which I am currently mining Zcash or ZEC with. I am using the 1080 TI, 1080 TI, 1080/1070/1060 Mini Trio GPU DIY Rig build.

Since cryptocurrencies have risen exponentially in the past few months people want in. One of the best ways to make money with currencies like Ethereum and Bitcoin is to ‘mine’ them. When you mine a cryptocurrency you are running a program on your computer to use your computers computing power on the network. Whenever your computer solves a piece of the puzzle, a block in the blockchain, your miner is rewarded. There are two main ways to mine:

For this guide I am going to use the Flypool Zcash mining pool and will modify the flypool.bat file. This file will need to be modified with your wallet address as well as any other extra option you wish to enable. A copy of my modified batch file is shown below:

GeForce GTX 590, GeForce GTX 580, GeForce GTX 570, GeForce GTX 560 Ti, GeForce GTX 560 SE, GeForce GTX 560, GeForce GTX 555, GeForce GTX 550 Ti, GeForce GT 545, GeForce GT 530, GeForce GT 520, GeForce 510

Here you can see the miner.exe which is the main program, a couple of support dll’s (Dynamic Link Libraries), a help.txt file with some basic command overviews, as well as several .bat (Windows batch) files with example configurations for several mining pools that support Zcash.

Hey guys, thanks for the fantastic guide. I have a windows 10 system with two nvidia GPUs. One is gtx 960 and the other is gt 710. I am using escavator for mining zcash. I m getting 127 H/s if i use only my gtx 960 GPU. When i added the second GPU, escavator does not read it, ( windows does), still getting 127H/s. How do i increase this? Any ideas pls.

There are a lot of user-submitted crypto mining benchmarks out there. Our methodology is simple. We ran these systems 24×7 for 72 hours and averaged the last 12 hours. That is an important feature because NVIDIA Pascal GPUs will throttle under heat so the first 20 minutes of mining can be much faster than full heat-soak. We have a nvidia-docker mining container to simplify mining so we can deploy it on our cluster machines and provide consistency.

Bitcoin Gold blockchain database is going to be secured with Equihash algorithm that is ASIC resistant. Being able to mine bitcoin with conventional GPU hardware ensures Bitcoin Gold network security functions are well distributed across the world.

Now that you’ve got your hands dirty, just sit back and watch your zcash roll in! Be aware that you are mining to a transparent address (it starts with t). You can follow this guide to learn how to create a private and transparent wallet.

The official Zcash 1.0 User guide at https://github.com/zcash/zcash/wiki/1.0-User-Guide is a great place to start and just get familiar with how Zcash works. The Zcash software provided by Zcash company is a complete package that will let you run a full Node, Mine with your CPU, and also has a built in Wallet for sending and receiving Zcash.

Another cloud mining service provider that has been available for quite some time already as well – HashFlare has also announced their plans for offering cloud mining hashrate for Zcash (ZEC). They have already started the presale of mining contracts with a price of 4.20 USD per 0.1 H/s with the launch of mining planned to start before 21.11.16, so you will be able to catch some of the slow start mining period as well. Each of their Zcash cloud mining contracts will last for 1 year (from activation) and will not have any additional fees as everything is apparently included in the price.

Troubleshooting tip:  Some miners have had success installing all GPUs at once, then installing the drivers. Others prefer to install only one card, install the drivers, shut down the system, and then install the rest of the GPUs.

There is a new miner for Nvidia CUDA GPUs available for mining Zcash (ZEC) promising a slightly faster hashrate than the currently fastest implementation of the NiceHash EQM Zcash NVIDIA miner. The most important thing about this new miner is that it is not limited to only mining on NiceHash, so even with the same speed it is still a nice thing to have as it supports Stratum mining on other mining pools besides NiceHash (it does seem to support NiceHash’s Extranonce Subscribe as well). According to the author of the miner it is designed for Nvidia Pascal GPUs, but should work on older Compute 3.0 or higher Nvidia GPUs with at least 1 GB of video memory. Do note that the miner is not open source and there is only a Windows 64-bit binary release available at the moment, it does not seem to be based on other popular codebase and is not being reported as malicious software by antivirus products. You might still want to have something in mind as the user that posted it on Bitcointalk is a new account and not an established miner developer, even though it seems that the miner does work pretty well.

Theres a few more things we need to do before we can start running the miner. First of all, we need to add this string of code to the config.txt, especially on 1-2GB video cards. This will ensure everything runs smoothly. Add this code to your config.txt file:

Equihash is memory-hard but also fast to verify. Proof of Work is established by requiring “… two parameters: N (width in bits) and K (length), which determine the complexity of the underlying problem …”. The complexity of the underlying problem directly influences the memory and time required for the computation. If you want a run-through of the algorithm itself, take a look at this informative post on the Zcash forum.

Zcash makes use of the Equihash algorithm – a Proof of Work algorithm that is unique to Zcash for now. It was invented by Alex Biryukov and Dmitry Khovratovich, and makes use of Wagner’s algorithm to provide the PoW that’s required for consensus in the Zcash Blockchain.

Today the blockchains of Bitcoin and Ethereum are so heavily loaded, that even participation in a mining pool has become unprofitable, as the amount of resources invested in mining (electricity bills) usually exceeds the return. For this reason, the mining guide we are presenting today is a Zcash mining guide.

One of my GPUs is throwing out a constant stream of “GPU #2 returned incorrect data!” errors. It’s a rig with 4x 7950s running at stock speeds (925 MHz GPU clock, 1250 MHz Mem clock) and all are running below 70C with fan speeds set at 85%. Most people with this issue seem to have much higher temps or big overclocks. Also, adjusting the intensity does not help. Has anyone else run into this or managed to fix it?

so it’s latency dependent. I’m not sure how much time u have. If u have some, I would compile some versions that should show where the bottleneck is. Also could u pls check the cpu usage. If u have some time for all this stuff ofc.

The latest NiceHash EQM Zcash 1.0.3a is available for both Windows and Linux and promises up to 320 Sol/s on a stock GTX 1070, and up to 370 Sol/s on overclocked GTX 1070 (you need to use two instances per GPU for maximum performance). We can confirms hashrates that are very close to the ones claimed on the GTX 1070 and of course the miner also does well on other NVidia GPUs. Do note however that it does require SM 5.0 GPU, meaning Maxwell or Pascal as it will not work on older Nvidia architectures…

If you want to dual-boot and not just clean install you will need this step. Right click on the windows start menu, on the bottom left and select ‘Disk Management’. Select your main HDD or SSD that you want to dual boot from, right click on it and press ‘Shrink’. I suggest using at least 32gb just to be safe.

A: The miner uses adaptive intensity and tries to use the maximum intensity value, with the help of the –intensity option you can set a limit on the maximum intensity, this will slightly reduce gpu usage and performance. Allowed values 1 – 64. You can set different values for each cards –intensity 64 64 64 64

This article needs to be proofread. There are multiple spelling errors and incorrect word usage, such as “This is because the Claymore miner is faster but only works for CPU.”. Claymore miner is faster for GPU, not CPU.

Some of the above specialize for AMD GPUs, whereas other are tailored to Nvidia GPUs. However, you’ll find that the Claymore Miner works just fine for both, so the choice is ultimately a matter of preference.

The other thing is wallet that you need to complete the mining process. You require a wallet to receive, send and store your funds.  There are multiple GPU wallets available and you can choose the right one. You can compare the features and reviews.

Ah, I see. Malware seem to be a huge problem on this forum. I took a look for a description to setup a VM quickly. It seems it not that easy. PCI/GPU-Passthrough seems to be very hardware dependent – not that easy to setup. I’ve really no good idea how to provide security for you, without opening the source. Well I guess someone has to try it out and report. Sry, but I have no better ideas for this.

In order to mine using this guide, there are two things that you’ll need. The first is a wallet to store your funds. There are currently multiple GUI wallets available and you can compare them here. You can also use this guide to learn how to install one of them on Linux. It is also possible to use an exchange as a wallet but we do not recommend it.

Linux users can also use the Optiminer/Equihash miner as a solution for mining different variations of the Equihash algorithm (Equihash 200/9, Equihash 192/7, Equihash 96/5). A Windows version is supposed to come out at some point, but it is still not available for the moment.

Linux users would probably want to go and try the  latest version of the Silentarmy miner that also brought support for Nvidia GPUs and is apparently providing similar performance as the NiceHash release for Windows. Also the Silentarmy miner is doing pretty well on AMD hardware, so do try it as well if you have such mining rigs and are running them on Linux.

Keep in mind that your profitability will depend mostly on your electricity and internet costs. As such, it’s common to find large mining operations close to power plants, as those ventures tend to strike up B2B rates with the plants themselves to ensure profitability. But don’t worry, it’s likely that your conditions could lead to a reasonable ROI (Return on Investment) as well. Just make sure to calculate the ins and outs of your situation before you make a sizable investment.

ZCash is an anonymous cryptocurrency that uses zk-snarks to ensure that all the information regarding user transactions is safely encrypted, while still verifiable by miners that can ensure no double-spending has taken place using zero knowledge proofs.

Next, you will have to ensure you have the correct virtual memory enabled (minimum 16GB). To do this, search for system in the start menu. Open system and on the left hand side click ‘Advanced System Settings.’ Go under the advanced tab, under performance settings, and advanced again. Then click ‘Change’ under virtual memory. Uncheck the box that states to ‘Automatically manage paging file size for all drives’ and then input a custom size of 16384 (or whatever is the maximum allowable value up to 16GB) into the Initial and Maximum size fields. This will prevent you from having any errors with virtual memory.

You can mine it to an exchange or to hardware wallet like Ledger Nano S. amd Trezor.  In this guide, we have mentioned all about the setting process of EWBF Miner. You should know how to set and use it up.  Mining process can be very profitable for you if you have any AMD card.

For those who may be unfamiliar, Pascal is the code name for Nvidia’s latest micro-architecture which includes all GeForce 10 (10xx) series cards, such as the GTX 1050, GTX 1060, GTX 1070, GTX 1080, the Ti variants as well as Titian X and Xp cards. So basically the miner is optimized for Nvidia 10 series cards, but should still work with most Nvidia cards that have at least 1 GB of on-board memory and Compute 2.0 or higher capabilities.

Cpu Mining is not profitable when you pay for electricity. When I bought my rig last October I bought some expensive i7 6800k CPU. It was profitable for the first days and had around 38H/S But then GPU Hashrates got better and I turned CPU Miner off.

Hey Charlie, OK, I expect you’re checking that out on the South African Bitmart.co.za site which sells miners and other crypto gear? It’s their name for 6x 1080 GPUs in a re-assembled rig… So sure, it’ll be good for mining zCash, as that’s its intended purpose after all and the 1080 GPU is a good miner. That said, electricity in SA has become pretty expensive and Bitmart’s prices are fairly steep. Their setup goes for R88k but I see that a single GT 1080 (basic model, not the Ti) goes for about R10k on Evetech: https://www.evetech.co.za/PC-Components/buy-nvidia-geforce-gtx-graphics-cards-47.aspx You should check which… Read more »

GPU   Graphical Processing Unit, a GPU (or commonly just referred to as a graphics card) was previously the dominant way of Bitcoin mining. It was way beyond the efficiency of a CPU and plenty common among computer users to gain widespread adoption. With the increase in the difficulty it has recently become too inefficient for most to continue mining with GPUs as their electric bills now compete with the value they generate. Good morning from Q City, so i have a noobynoob question. I am very beginner and now I mining on 3 PC. Two of them mine ethereum using 470×2 and 480×2 – I`m using dwarfpool and Claymore`s Dual miner and everything is okay when i check my wallet raits the balance is growing like beautiful garden with hundreds of mexicans working on it, !!BUT!! on my third PC I am using single msi gtx1080 gaming X to mine some zec using dwarfpool and nheqminer5c it working on 400 sol/s but my balanace is still 0.0000 after 10 hours of mine. So what the problem, or my mistake>>??? Im using wallet creating on HitBTC, is it okay>>>>?? HELP PLZ!!

That’s right, you can use both! With most cryptos this would be wasteful, but since the Equihash algorithm is “CPU-friendly”, mining with both GPU and CPU is currently profitable. All you need to do is keep both the CPU threads (-t) and the GPU numbers (-og)

If you are buying a GPU for deep learning and are looking for something to offset your costs, Zcash may be a reason to upgrade from a GTX 1060 to a GTX 1070, a GTX 1080 to GTX 1080 Ti. Our advice here is to get a larger card. At some point, adding additional GTX 1060’s is less efficient for deep learning, gaming and from a cost perspective. Since each PCIe slot has a cost if you decide to scale out, we advocate getting larger cards if possible.

Not everyone has the proper knowledge, time and patience to start Zcash mining on their own but still you can go for Zcash mining using your own computer.  If you have already decided to mine Zcash, you should know what hardware you need to use. First of all you go for right hardware, then software. There are so many software types available in market that works with various different hardware configurations.

Some settings should be modified in Windows to get you ready for mining.  First, you don’t want your computer to go into Sleep mode, as it will interrupt your mining. Go to your Power Settings and set Turn Off/Sleep to Never.

Zcash, or ZEC, is a currency that developed from Bitcoin, with the addition of anonymity. While in Bitcoin’s blockchain, anyone can see the transactions between all the addresses and see each address’s balance, with Zcash it is possible to make transactions without revealing the balance of a wallet (which represents an address).

Using this miner is easy but you have to specify the number of cores you have for better performance.  You should check your CPU count by opening task manager.  The nicehash miner has 2 versions and comes with it. One version is to get paid in BT C and another in Zcash. Now open the nheqminer_zcash” file now you can start mining with CPU and paste the command given below:

Several months ago, we tried Zcash mining in Docker and even published Docker containers for CPU mining. Although we have CUDA enabled Monero mining containers, they performed well, but not significantly better than CPU mining. When we built a new image with Pascal GPUs we found that NVIDIA GPUs can keep up profitability in-line with using AMD GPUs to mine Zcash or Monero.

Similar to the Claymore miner (which does not currently support Zcash mining under Windows), the EWBF miner contains a 2% developer fee which can be turned off in the batch file. It is noted in the thread that disabling the fee will slightly reduce hashing power, similar to that same behavior with Claymore’s miner.

Below is an example of a batch file that we use on one of our Windows-based mining rigs. Everything is contained in a single line in the .bat file. That single line specifies the program to be run (miner) and a few settings that customize the miner’s activity. Finally, and most importantly, one of Zcash wallet addresses is specified so mined Zcash goes to the right place. Here’s the .bat file that we are currently using to start mining. Scroll to see all of it’s contents if necessary.

Click on “workers” and choose one of the jobs (Account’s default jobs) according to your card. Run the file you have created (mine.bat). Make sure that there are no errors and that a message approving your worker has been received. If you did not get this message, it means you did something wrong. After the program starts running you will see that the worker (called the miner) is added to the “workers” screen. On the site, click “Dashboard” to see data about the mining (it will take some time until you see something; it is updated according to the work that the mining machine does).

Once you have these downloaded open up Linux Live, select your usb you want to use and select the Ubuntu 14.04 iso you just downloaded. Then press the lightning button. Once it is done reboot your PC, and boot into the BIOS. You can usually do this by pressing F2 or F12 when the computer is booting up. Once you are here select ‘Boot Menu’ and select your USB drive. From here it is pretty self explanatory.

The only drawback is that the miner currently only supports connection to NiceHash, so you cannot use it with other pools. While this might nit be bad during the slow start of ZEC mining, after that you might still want to go for mining and keeping Zcash instead of immediately selling it for profit. Hopefully in the next few weeks we are also going to see more development happening for Nvidia users and that goes not only for Linux, but for Windows users as well.

According to its developers and most users that have tried the Bminer already it is the fastest publicly available Equihash miner for Nvidia GPUs and we can confirm that our initial impressions are showing a better local hashrate compared to the alternatives mentioned. So if you have a Compute Capability 5.0 or newer Nvidia GPU used for mining you might want to give Bminer a go and see if it will work better for you. The miner does come with SSL support as well as Nicehash support, has some interesting extra features, though it is still very easy to use. There is also an API and a web-based interface available for monitoring of your mining rigs that can be quite useful, so go and give it a try and report your results.

Simply plug in Freedom Miner to any 110-240V power outlet, plug in the Ethernet connection to your router or cable modem, turn it on and it will begin mining right away. A typical 15A circuit can support two Freedom Miners (7.25A / Unit), assuming no other equipment is being powered at the same time.

Zcash, a privacy centered cryptocurrency, made a mark in the mining scene by use of its ‘Equihash’ Proof of Work mining algorithm. The algorithm distinguishes itself from others with its focus on memory. In short, to mine Zcash, you’ll likely need more memory than what you’d need for other cryptocurrencies. But don’t worry, Zcash’s whopping $350+ USD trading value gives you enough incentive to get started.

Currently the NiceHash EQM Zcash miner is the fastest ZEC miner out there for Nvidia GPUs with the latest release bringing up to almost 50% increase in performance for most Nvidia GPUs. Everything would have been perfect if you could use the miner for other Zcash pools, but the EQM miner is still only supporting the NiceHash service, so you cannot mine ZEC with it, just sell your Zcash hashrate and get paid for it in Bitcoin. The recently released EWBF CUDA Zcash Miner is probably the fastest ZEC miner for Nvidia GPUs that is available for Windows that you can use on other pools for mining Zcash directly, though it is slower than the latest EQM miner release and that one also comes with 2% dev fee (no fee on the NiceHash miner, but only locked to their service).

From a security minded engineer: How can I trust someone sharing Windows executable via Google Drive and using WinRar? The guide is nice but it raises lots of security concerns. There’s no auditable open source code and stamp by security experts. Not long ago we had WannaCry spreading in the wild.

The blockchain allows the transfer of funds in a decentralized manner, while security and fraud-prevention are carried out by encryption, hence the name crypto, as cryptography is the discipline of encryption. Encrypting and verifying a transaction requires work. Computers which do this kind of work, which is basically solving a mathematical puzzle, get to write the next block in the chain, and are rewarded with coins for it – this is practically the mining operation. The more miners a network has, the stronger it is and the faster and more secure it is.

It can also help to check your equipment on different mining profitability websites. Sometimes the estimations vary so you can get a more accurate prediction by trying out different calculators. Some worth mentioning are:

As you can see, pricing has some fairly wild swings. As another example, this article was written Saturday, 20 May 2017 when the price was $104 USD to 1 ZEC. On Sunday 21 May 2017 the price hit $123. At the time of this publication (9AM Pacific 22 May 2017) 1 ZEC is now around $248. Prices fluctuate, a lot.

As solving these mathematical puzzles had become difficult, mining pools are being used. A mining pool is a joint effort between miners, so that even a miner with a relatively small amount of processing power can enjoy the reward, without having to solve the whole mathematical puzzle by himself, as it requires a lot of computing power (Hash rate). In the early days of Bitcoin, it was possible to mine Bitcoin with a standard processor of a personal computer (CPU mining). Afterwards, as the network grew bigger, the difficulty of solving these puzzles grew too, and it was no longer possible to mine using a CPU. For this reason, people shifted to using powerful “gamers” graphics card processes (GPU mining), as their design solves those puzzles much faster than a CPU. The next step was to shift over to ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuits which are basically dedicated machines built for the sole purpose of mining). Today, Bitcoin’s network is so heavy, that nobody can mine Bitcoin by themselves. As an individual miner’s power is relatively small, he will probably not be able to solve any puzzle before other more powerful miners do and new puzzles are issued, resulting in wasted work which practically gives zero income (in theory, an individual can solve a puzzle by themselves, but with Bitcoin the chances of success are smaller than winning the lottery).

Editor’s Note: We ran this analysis on 20 May 2017 when Zcash’s coin ZEC was $104 USD to 1 ZEC. By the early morning Pacific time of 22 May 2017 that had hit $124. As this is about to publish it is currently at $248 USD to 1 ZEC. These markets fluctuate greatly.

I use the MSI GTX 1080 TI AERO. These cards are the best in performance and cooling. They have from to back airflow that keep these cards cooler than most. Note: Do not buy the Gigabyte version of these. They have firmware issues and crash.

The average mining rate of the system is 200Mh/s, providing an opportunity for an excellent return at current ETH values, if ETH continues to climb as Bitcoin has it will produce a return many times over.

Cpu Mining is not profitable when you pay for electricity. When I bought my rig last October I bought some expensive i7 6800k CPU. It was profitable for the first days and had around 38H/S But then GPU Hashrates got better and I turned CPU Miner off.

(ZEC) This is what happed to me. I lost one “Pending” payment, and that “Pending” last for at least 6hrs. When I woke up in the morning, that Pending was gone, no payment. I checked all the top miners, they have the same thing, I don’t know if they notice or not. Many times, the number “Balance” freeze for couple hrs. I’m pretty confidence to say that, nanopool does steal coins. However, I tried flypool (steal hashes), and Dwarfpool, and turns out this pool is ok to mine.

For a solid budget card, the Nvidia 1060 with 6 GB of RAM is recommended (when in stock and not ridiculously overpriced due to the card shortages we’ve been seeing in summer 2017). This GPU will beat the AMD 480s when it comes to mining Zcash!

The EWBF CUDA Zcash Miner has a built-in developer fee that is set at 2%, meaning that every 10 minutes the software will switch to a different pool and mine for the developer some shares and then get back to mining for you. The author of the software claims speeds of about 250 H/s for Nvidia GTX 1070 while the NiceHash EQM miner does currently about 220 H/s on the same GPU. Our quick tests showed a hashrate of about 235-240 H/s average (up to 250 H/s) on stock GTX 1070, so still slightly faster, but not as much as you may want it to… then there is the dev fee as well and it seems that we are seeing somewhat more rejects than, especially when switching to mine for the dev fee. So while this may be an interesting alternative for users willing to mine outside of NiceHash, the actual performance that you may get poolside may not be much different than with what is currently the fastest implementation from NiceHash (taking into account the dev fee and the rejected shares)…

That is when I got a warm welcome into Genesis Mining, which is cloud mining. I was blown away and soon realized this is where the future of mining is headed. The average ROI now is 4 months which gives a whooping 20 months of profit.

On October 28, 2016, the launch of Zcash made ZEC coins available for mining. Since Zcash is an open source, decentralized cryptocurrency, we believe that mining for ZEC is an important way to help strengthen and decentralize the Zcash community, contribute to computer science, and win our gratitude and a prize. Mining should be available to everyone, regardless of their access to specialized hardware; anyone should be able to use a computer to “mine” by using open source software, and add more transactions to the Zcash ledger to possibly get Zcash coins in return for their effort. By distributing the ability to perform mining with open source software, the Zcash network can be a more accessible and a truly community-supported cryptocurrency.

I’ve done a search here and no one is talking about Bminer a new Equihash miner released last month. from gpumining I started with EBWF then I discovered DSTM which was the tits with the higher hashrate but it was fairly unstable if I tried to adjust the vid cards through MSI AB giving me hard freezes or bsods. Sometimes they happened a short while after I walked away after adjusting a setting to give it time to settle. Sometimes hours later. That’s right, you can use both! With most cryptos this would be wasteful, but since the Equihash algorithm is “CPU-friendly”, mining with both GPU and CPU is currently profitable. All you need to do is keep both the CPU threads (-t) and the GPU numbers (-og)

Zcash mining is very simple and it is good news for beginners now they need not to download full Zcash block chain. They need not to manage clunky command line miners with manual instructions.  If you are a beginner you can go for Zcash mining directly.

Disclosure: Mining metrics are calculated based on a network hash rate of 437,207 KH/s and using a ZEC – USD exchange rate of 1 ZEC = $ 243.51. These figures vary based on the total network hash rate and on the ZEC to USD conversion rate. Block reward is fixed at 10 ZEC and future block reward reductions are not taken into account. The average block time used in the calculation is 150 seconds. The electricity price used in generating these metrics is $ 0.12 per kWh. Network hash rate varies over time, this is just an estimation based on current values.

Be aware .. i mined Zec and everything ok for 2 months .. suddenly 10% drop of my hash rate without any reason for 5-6 days.. stealing hash a lot but not from the beginning like flypool… never replied to my question

Ran the same settings on both miners and it’s more like 4-5% more than EWBF. 1080 + 1070 =~1020 Sol/s on Bminer with 60% Power limit and 350 W at the wall. On EWBF it’s ~970 Sol/s for both. The 1080 gets the biggest boost on Bminer about 10% ~574 Sol/s with 60% power limit. I’m mining on Flypool which only shows the effective hash rate, so it will take a while to be accurate but it seems legit.

Bminer is a relatively new miner for Nvidia GPUs for mining cryptocurrencies using the Equihash algorithm such as Zcash (ZEC). It is a closed source miner, available for both Windows and Linux operating systems and comes with a 2% dev fee included (optional, though disabling it apparently removes some optimizations). Bminer comes as an alternative to the popular EWBF miner, the development of which has been stalled for a while already, as well as the more recent dstm ZCash CUDA Miner that looks promising and is actively being developed, but still lacks some features such as failover pool support for example. So any new alternatives such as Bminer that are being actively improved and developed are more than welcome for the users and the crypto community as well.

Find the place you installed Cuda and navigate to it. To do this it is easiest to download it and drag it into your home folder. To do this press the file cabinet at the top left of the screen. It should open up to the desired folder. You should see icons like Desktop, Documents, Downloads, etc. Now just drag your Cuda download here.

You will now need to choose a pool in which to mine at. Most pools now use your wallet address as an account, with payments sent automatically to your wallet address once you reach the pool’s payment threshold. There are still some exceptions to this, such as the Suprnova pool which still requires you to register an separate account and input your wallet address separately.

Freedom Miner is a Zcash Miner beast and is defaulted to mine ZEC out of the box, however changing currencies is a breeze before or after you receive the rig. During purchase simply provide us with your wallet addresses for the coins you wish to mine and we’ll send your rig pre-configured. Don’t have wallet addresses yet? No problem, we can ship your rig with our system defaults.Freedom Miner comes with a standard 3-prong US style power cord, but other standard power supply cables are compatible as well.

I was skeptical so I have tested myself. This miner is faster than dstm on my rigs by ~2%. The difference is small though. Here is the post I have in bitcointalk, with all screenshots and all my mining logs.

You need to take in to consideration the system which requires another 100w. 1080 with 80 percent power and 2 1060 also at 80 percent power should be fine. If it doesn’t work try to reduce power further to 75 percent. I have my 1080s set to 70 percent power.

How much can be earned depending on hash rate? DO you have to use Ubuntu. I have windows 10 and two GPUs on an Aorus X7 Pro which comes with an Nvidia graphics card. I was trying to mine ETH and I found it to be very taxing on my computer and due to the fact I had Windows 10, there was a bottleneck issue where it mines at a slower hash rate than it would if I used Windows 7. Does the same apply to Zcash? Does this sound familiar?

Keep in mind that Equihash makes CPU mining still somewhat feasible for Zcash. However, you’ll mostly receive a better RoI with GPU investments, so consider the options above first before exploring your CPU options.

The average mining rate of the system is 200Mh/s, providing an opportunity for an excellent return at current ETH values, if ETH continues to climb as Bitcoin has it will produce a return many times over.

Thanks for the article i’ve set up everything I believe correctly and I have one gpu msi armor gtx 1060 running but my other 2 gpus (same models) are not running. On initial start up all gpu fans will spin and then one pretty much takes command. Any thoughts on what the issue could be??

The other thing is wallet that you need to complete the mining process. You require a wallet to receive, send and store your funds.  There are multiple GPU wallets available and you can choose the right one. You can compare the features and reviews.

The dstm’s ZCash Nvidia Miner is supposed to be slightly faster than the popular and widely used EWBF’s CUDA Zcash miner that has not been updated for quite some time, so you might want to give the new miner a try. Our initial tests show a bit better hashrate with the same GPU settings as with the EWBF, though the difference is not huge. Do note that dstm’s miner has its own specifics that you need to get used with such as the use of a separate thread for each GPU and getting 6 separate workers on the pool from one mining rig for example. The interface could also use some improvements and some color coding can further help in readability, but in general it is quite Ok even at the moment. Do note that the 64-bit Windows binary is built with Visual Studio 2015, so if you do not have the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 installed you might get an error about a missing DLL.

dstm’s ZCash Cuda miner version 0.6 adds failover pool support, one of the features that we wanted to see the most to make this a really good alternative. It is not failover pool support only however, the latest version introduces support for configuration files as well and an option to control mining intensity for the GPUs. There are also a number of other new features added as well as improvements that might be useful for some people, but we can already say that dstm’s ZCash Cuda miner is now the better miner when compared with EWBF ZCash CUDA miner, so if you are still using EWBF’s software you might want to give dstm’s one a go. Do note that dstm’s ZCash Cuda miner should be faster performing in terms of hashrate with the same settings, also there is a 2% developer fee included with this closed source miner.

We wanted to investigate whether buying overclocked cards was worth it for mining. If you are buying these cards and using them out of the box in Linux (for machine learning) then you do not have access to the nice Windows overclocking tools. Also, crypto mining generates 24×7 load so some of aftermarket cooling solutions on the overclocked cards can be extremely advantageous. One other point to note is that larger cards like the ASUS STRIX models have PCB and coolers that rise well beyond the PCIe slots. That should be a consideration if you are thinking about these systems in rackmount enclosures.

A: You can run the miner like all previous versions with command line arguments, in this case the config file will be ignored. If you sets the –config argument, the specified config file will be used, all other command line arguments will be ignored. If you run a miner without command line arguments, the miner will try to use the default config file miner.cfg.

Not everyone has access to a computer, however, and not everyone has the time, knowledge or patience to start mining Zcash on their own, especially since there is no Graphic User Interface (GUI) Miner available yet. If you want to mine on your own computer, but need a little push to do so, you’re in the right place. But if you’re looking to profit from Zcash mining with no effort at all, this guide will do the trick.

FinCEN   The Financial Crimes & Enforcement Network functions under the authority of The United States Department of the Treasury. FinCEN is the portion of the agency charged with combatting money laundering and other illicit financial practices. They are currently one of the lead agencies trying to figure out how to regulate and monitor the flow of Bitcoin.

Keep in mind that Equihash makes CPU mining still somewhat feasible for Zcash. However, you’ll mostly receive a better RoI with GPU investments, so consider the options above first before exploring your CPU options.

The following configuration of mining machines are suitable for virtual currency based on Equihash Algorithm: Zcash(ZEC), Zencash(ZEN), Bitcoin Gold(BTG), Komodo(KMD). Click on the name or login to minethecoin.com to view the current earnings. The mining machines earnings unit is Sol/s based on Equihash Algorithm.

Alternate Currencies   There are many different alternative currency that have sprung up based off of the idea and/or basic code of Bitcoin. A few of the more notable ones are litecoin, namecoin, PPCoin, and Ripple. To learn more about these, please visit our alternate currencies page.

I have a Trojan.GenericKD.5331716 in any download for the nheqminer for windows. Does not matter what source I go to. Best be aware. If someone has a source that does not contain it, would be happy to receive.

All of these calculations can change based on mining difficulty as well as Zcash price fluctuations. Here is a view of what 1 December 2016 to 20 May 2017 Zcash pricing looks like via Poloniex (one of the larger exchanges):

For perspective, I run several of the Gigabyte “ITX” one-fan GTX 1070 model cards on Folding@Home – which pushes a card quite a bit harder than ZCash mining does – and they stay plenty cool as long as the ambient temperature doesn’t get very high.

In 2009, Bitcoin was one of the first applications of the blockchain. Since the invention of money, the problem of centralization has always existed. Although it was temporarily solved in the era of the gold rush, when every ordinary man could mine gold and generate money, since then, banks and credit companies took control over the money, shifted over to working with credit, and practically cut off the connection to gold itself and created a monopoly on printing money. Bitcoin returned the possibility of generating money for everyone. It is no coincidence that the process of generating cryptocurrencies is called “Mining”.

–pass z  (the actual value of this parameter is usually ignored by pools but oftentimes required by either the pool, mining program, or both. Can be set to something like “X” or “Z” unless your pool requires a specific password).

In the beginning Bitcoin network transactions where secured by individual hobbyist miners. With the introduction of ASIC hardware security, functionality has been disproportionately concentrated into a handful of corporations making it less secure.

Explore the world of mining right your iOS device. You don’t need fancy expensive equipment to do mining. You already own a device powerful enough to mine. Zcash (ZEC) is unique because unlike Bitcoin which needs specialized ASIC hardware to mine, ZEC can still be mined using your CPU albeit slowly.

While the coins of the “old world” as we all know, were and still are issued by centralized bodies such as banks and governments, and are created as printed bills or banknotes, the process of creating money in the world of crypto is decentralized.
