Now with all that said, it also does not mean that a mining program cannot contain a virus, or that it isn’t a virus itself, so don’t just blindly trust it either. It is just that there is a valid reason for a high rate of false positives when it comes to such software. Just as a general rule, I would not load any mining software on a machine that contains a cryptocurrency wallet, or one that you do any type of financial work on. It is best to play it safe and keep your mining rigs separate from your important information, so a separate machine is best that is dedicated to mining if possible.
Another popular service for renting and leasing hashrate, namely Mining Rig Rentals has yet to introduce support for the new algorithm used by Zcash (ZEC), so for the moment it is not interesting option for people that are all into Equihash. With the big interest however we are not going to be surprised if they don’t take much time to also introduce Zcash support in the next days.
ZCash uses Equihash as an hashing algorithm, which is an asymmetric memory-hard PoW algorithm based on the generalized birthday problem. It relies on high RAM requirements to bottleneck the generation of proofs and making ASIC development unfeasible, much like Ethereum.
Advantages: It does seem to be a bit less stressful on hardware — power usage is a bit lower. You can watch YouTube HD videos without chopping while Bminer works, and it will dial down hash rate to accommodate this. DSTM and EBWF usually make watching videos or working on spreadsheets uncomfortable to impossible.
Keep in mind that many of the pools above support several other cryptocurrencies. Also, considering that the field is very active, there might be other pools that have emerged since the time of writing.
The issue is that ewbf is not the fastest miner availible so it should be compared to dtsm´s miner and the increases are not that significant. But the 1080 boost seems nice, i will test it on my rigs.
Ran the same settings on both miners and it’s more like 4-5% more than EWBF. 1080 + 1070 =~1020 Sol/s on Bminer with 60% Power limit and 350 W at the wall. On EWBF it’s ~970 Sol/s for both. The 1080 gets the biggest boost on Bminer about ~574 Sol/s with 60% power limit. I’m mining on Flypool which only shows the effective hash rate, so it will take a while to be accurate but it seems legit.
Once you have these downloaded open up Linux Live, select your usb you want to use and select the Ubuntu 14.04 iso you just downloaded. Then press the lightning button. Once it is done reboot your PC, and boot into the BIOS. You can usually do this by pressing F2 or F12 when the computer is booting up. Once you are here select ‘Boot Menu’ and select your USB drive. From here it is pretty self explanatory.
Your first step will be to choose a Zcash mining pool. There are plenty to choose from, but we recommend Flypool. The home page or help section of a mining pool site will likely contain instructions on how to mine on its pool using the popular EWBF Miner.

Using the exact same stable msi AB settings I dialed in with DSTM, I tried it out for 24 hours and didn’t get a single crash and rejected shares were single digits out of almost 3k shares submitted and my overall hashrate went up +60 sol/s. I’ve also noticed it doesn’t mind when I’m tuning the graphics cards while active and have never gotten a bsod or frozen pc in days now. Cherry on top is that I personally like the telemetry screen which is a bit nicer to monitor over dstm’s. Devfee is the standard 2% same as all the others.
I’ve a question, I have a 700W Power supply(non modular) , and currently a gtx 1080 and one gtx 1060 3GB. So the miner shows that I’m using about 200W for this gtx, if I connect one more gtx 1060 3GB and I start the miner, it shows errors like it hasn’t enought power, and the last gpu stops running but the fan go 100%.
In the example above we’re mining on USA stratum pool. We have a quad-core CPU with hyper-threading (8 threads available) and only one NVIDIA GPU in the computer. We are mining with 6 threads on the CPU and on the whole NVIDIA GPU.

Unfortunately it’s currently written specifically for linux and uses direct OperatingSystem calls to be as fast as possible, to have very low cpu usage and to consume energy as little as possible. However if people are interested in a Windows version I’ll port it. First we have to check how it performs on something faster then a 750ti However my test are very promising.
