ZCash uses Equihash as an hashing algorithm, which is an asymmetric memory-hard PoW algorithm based on the generalized birthday problem. It relies on high RAM requirements to bottleneck the generation of proofs and making ASIC development unfeasible, much like Ethereum.
In terms of durability, Zcash will heat up your GPU 24×7 if you let it. Founder’s edition cards using default settings will hit if the ambient temperature is high enough. Cards like the EVGA 1060 6GB card cannot handle the cooling required for Zcash mining for 24×7 operation.
It does mine but there is no way to get paid and you need to put your wallet address in some other website,the app crashes and suddenly stops constantly, it needs an update to fix all those software errors,is really bad design it should pay immediately after is done hashing and it should have a place to put your wallet so it sends the coins to the wallet directly and have no issues, very hard to get support, it seems to be working and hashing but just can’t get it to pay or no support, i don’t recommend it seems like a gimmicky lie

Please keep this in mind before you assume that this is profitable and buy hardware. If you were mining in December 2016 assuming a $90-100 price, by January 2017 to early March 2017 your Zcash stash was worth 1/2 to 1/3rd.
Digital currencies are mine to a transparent address but it can be spent to shielded address or Z-address. This currency should be swept out of the transparent address in one transaction without any changes. You should use the Z-sendmany command to send currencies from a transparent address to shielded address. You need 4GB RAM for this process.
Replace “eu” for your location, “ZEC-ADDRESS” for your zcash wallet address (transparent address), replace “-t 8” for the number of threads you want to use, and lastly replace “-og 0” for the number of GPUs you’re using (as in -og 0 1 2 if you’re using 3 GPUs)
Plug in your card at the top and click on the model number (the red square below), and the hashing and profitability info will be displayed below (click Equihash to make it blue so it will calculate).
Claymore’s Zcash (ZEC) AMD miner has been updated a couple of times already since the release of the initial version from some days ago. The number of optimizations and hashrate improvements with pretty much each major update has been tremendous, bringing back to life many of the old AMD Radeon GPUs such as 7950/7970 or the 280X, some of the most popular mining video cards for the last few years. The latest release, already a major version 6 brought more fixes and optimizations in terms of performance. As one would expect Nvidia is left behind once more, even though there were some signs that recently it was starting to catch up to the levels of performance of AMD GPUs, it is now yet again significantly slower. So owners of Nvidia-based mining rigs might want to switch to some other alternative for mining at the moment after the latest performance boosts from Claymore. Do have in mind however that Claymore’s Zcash miner does come with a 2.5% dev fee, below is a list of major changes and updates of the miner after the initial release:
You mention Linux, my only question is… are you gaming on Linux as well, or just dual booting? I know there isn’t an nvidia-docker for Windows, so I was wondering the easiest/quickest way to start up a zcash instance on the side.
The dstm’s ZCash Nvidia miner has been available for a while and we’ve been keeping a track, but it was only for Linux operating systems – not anymore. With the latest version 0.5.2 the miner is also released for Windows in a 64-bit binary and not anymore available only for Linux miners. The miner is closed source one and comes with a 2% developer fee included. It support Nvidia-based GPUs with Compute Capability 5.0 or later, meaning it is for Maxwell or the newer Pascal video cards. There is support available for stratum as well as for NiceHash’s extranonce, so it can be used there as well without problems for selling Equihash hashrate.
Linux users would probably want to go and try the latest version of the Silentarmy miner that also brought support for Nvidia GPUs and is apparently providing similar performance as the NiceHash release for Windows. Also the Silentarmy miner is doing pretty well on AMD hardware, so do try it as well if you have such mining rigs and are running them on Linux.

It is a popular currency to mine with nVidia GPU’s as the algorithm hashes better on these GPU’s vs. their AMD competitors. The GTX series is the most popular for mining Zcash.
dstm’s ZCash Cuda miner version 0.6 adds failover pool support, one of the features that we wanted to see the most to make this a really good alternative. It is not failover pool support only however, the latest version introduces support for configuration files as well and an option to control mining intensity for the GPUs. There are also a number of other new features added as well as improvements that might be useful for some people, but we can already say that dstm’s ZCash Cuda miner is now the better miner when compared with EWBF ZCash CUDA miner, so if you are still using EWBF’s software you might want to give dstm’s one a go. Do note that dstm’s ZCash Cuda miner should be faster performing in terms of hashrate with the same settings, also there is a 2% developer fee included with this closed source miner.
