You can mine Zcash with CPU. If you are about to use nicehash miner it can work for both GPU and CPU. You should use different miners for GPU and CPU. It is as the claymore miner is fast and works only for CPU. You can download the nicehash miner and extract the files within the zip folder.

Notice I only have one GPU running. If you have multiple GPUs they all should be displayed as separate line entries starting with 0. For this test, we are using the EWBF 0.3.3b miner. We are comparing all of the GTX series GPUs in terms of mining performance as well as power consumption. For the NVIDIA GTX 1070, GTX and GTX 1080 Ti we have both Founder’s Edition and overclocked variants. We did not test the GTX 1050 (2GB) and GTX 1060 (3GB) variants because they have significantly lower value for gaming and machine learning. We are assuming these GPUs are not dedicated miners and instead Zcash mining is something to utilize hardware while it is idle/ offset costs.

The issue is that ewbf is not the fastest miner availible so it should be compared to dtsm´s miner and the increases are not that significant. But the 1080 boost seems nice, i will test it on my rigs.

Possible with Nicehash or Minergate. Nicehash is good to use for easy setup, but the hash rate is around 30% less than if you set up your own mining software with Claymore or EWBF. We will therefore focus on GPU mining for this guide.

For AMD mining you might want to head on to the Coinsforall mining pool that uses its own different protocol and has an OpenCL and CUDA miner. Earlier today Genoil has posted an OpenCL miner binary for Windows with stratum support, however it seems that his miner is still not ready for major use as most people are reporting issues making it work properly. We have tried his miner and also had trouble making it work properly, so if you have AMD OpenCL GPUs just go for Coinsforall for the moment and use their miner.

The good news is that getting started with Zcash mining is very simple. You don’t need to download the full Zcash blockchain or manage clunky command-line miners with manual instructions; you can mine directly to an exchange or to a hardware wallet such as Trezor or Ledger Nano S.
