Thanks for the article i’ve set up everything I believe correctly and I have one gpu msi armor gtx 1060 running but my other 2 gpus (same models) are not running. On initial start up all gpu fans will spin and then one pretty much takes command. Any thoughts on what the issue could be??

It does mine but there is no way to get paid and you need to put your wallet address in some other website,the app crashes and suddenly stops constantly, it needs an update to fix all those software errors,is really bad design it should pay immediately after is done hashing and it should have a place to put your wallet so it sends the coins to the wallet directly and have no issues, very hard to get support, it seems to be working and hashing but just can’t get it to pay or no support, i don’t recommend it seems like a gimmicky lie

Now with all that said, it also does not mean that a mining program cannot contain a virus, or that it isn’t a virus itself, so don’t just blindly trust it either. It is just that there is a valid reason for a high rate of false positives when it comes to such software. Just as a general rule, I would not load any mining software on a machine that contains a cryptocurrency wallet, or one that you do any type of financial work on. It is best to play it safe and keep your mining rigs separate from your important information, so a separate machine is best that is dedicated to mining if possible.

I have a Trojan.GenericKD.5331716 in any download for the nheqminer for windows. Does not matter what source I go to. Best be aware. If someone has a source that does not contain it, would be happy to receive.

ZCash uses Equihash as an hashing algorithm, which is an asymmetric memory-hard PoW algorithm based on the generalized birthday problem. It relies on high RAM requirements to bottleneck the generation of proofs and making ASIC development unfeasible, much like Ethereum.

Bminer is a relatively new miner for Nvidia GPUs for mining cryptocurrencies using the Equihash algorithm such as Zcash (ZEC). It is closed source miner, available for both Windows and Linux operating systems and comes with a 2% dev fee included (optional, though disabling it apparently removes some optimizations). Bminer comes as an alternative to the popular EWBF miner, the development of which has been stalled for a while already, as well as the more recent dstm ZCash CUDA Miner that looks promising and is actively being developed, but still lacks some features such as failover pool support for example. So any new alternatives such as Bminer that are being actively improved and developed are more than welcome for the users and the crypto community as well.

I don’t fully understand your question. Only the machine running the zcash4win program will do that actual mining, using its system resources. However, you can have a Zcash wallet on any machine and the mining rewards can be sent to that wallet. So you can have one machine doing the work of mining and any other machine to receive the Zcash which is mined. Hope that helps.

Zcash makes use of the Equihash algorithm – a Proof of Work algorithm that is unique to Zcash for now. It was invented by Alex Biryukov and Dmitry Khovratovich, and makes use of Wagner’s algorithm to provide the PoW that’s required for consensus in the Zcash Blockchain.

Genoil’s latest ZECMiner is pretty much the fastest public OpenCL miner (Windows binaries only) for Zcash at the moment, though there are some stability issues with cards dropping to 0 Sol/s and the miner crashing. The situation improves with each new version, but the miner is still not that good stability wise. The latest Nheqminer supports OpenCL mining, but is slower than ZECMiner, even though stability wise it is better… it is much better for CPU and CUDA mining though. Hopefully soon there will be other faster GPU miners that will offer more stability and features along the improved mining speeds, but for now you will need to do with what is currently available.

Go in to your extracted Zcash file and find the ‘start.sh’ file. If it doesn’t have one make one. Select it, right click on it and click ‘Edit’. Once you are here you will need to delete the contents in it and paste this with your addresses and press save.

The dstm’s ZCash Nvidia Miner is supposed to be slightly faster than the popular and widely used EWBF’s CUDA Zcash miner that has not been updated for quite some time, so you might want to give the new miner a try. Our initial tests show a bit better hashrate with the same GPU settings as with the EWBF, though the difference is not huge. Do note that dstm’s miner has its own specifics that you need to get used with such as the use of a separate thread for each GPU and getting 6 separate workers on the pool from one mining rig for example. The interface could also use some improvements and some color coding can further help in readability, but in general it is quite Ok even at the moment. Do note that the 64-bit Windows binary is built with Visual Studio 2015, so if you do not have the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 installed you might get an error about a missing DLL.

Run with ‘-h’ parameter to learn possible commands. By default, miner uses all CPU cores and no CUDA devices. You need to explicitly enable CUDA devices (setting ‘-cd’ parameter). If you wish to mine only with CUDA and no CPU, set ‘-t 0’.

The dstm’s ZCash Nvidia miner has been available for a while and we’ve been keeping a track, but it was only for Linux operating systems – not anymore. With the latest version 0.5.2 the miner is also released for Windows in a 64-bit binary and not anymore available only for Linux miners. The miner is closed source one and comes with a 2% developer fee included. It support Nvidia-based GPUs with Compute Capability 5.0 or later, meaning it is for Maxwell or the newer Pascal video cards. There is support available for stratum as well as for NiceHash’s extranonce, so it can be used there as well without problems for selling Equihash hashrate.

When the mining software was first released the developer also claimed that he: “Expected speeds (of) 435 sols/s (with a) GTX 1070 (and) 295 (sol/s with a) GTX 1060 6G (running under) Stock settings.” I believe things have improved since the first version with users reporting speeds of over XXX***XXX with a GTX 1070, and my own results of up to 560 sol/s with a GTX 1080.

Experimentation with various GPU selections in the calculator will reveal a card with the best price-to-performance-to-power consumption combination (expressed as MH/s per currency unit). Keep in mind that AMD cards outperform Nvidia cards for Ethereum mining purposes on the EthashAlgo, but AMD doesn’t beat Nvidia when it comes to the Equihash algorithm using the EWBF Miner.

However, if you have Nvidia cards, or if you’re in the market to buy new cards and can’t find any well-priced AMD cards, then mining Zcash on Nvidia GPUs is still very profitable with the EWBF Miner, which is highly optimized to get the maximum performance out of Nvidia’s Cuda cores.

Now I will say I know how to use Linux and I have built quite a few computers with this OS, but this is just a list of dependencies that if I run all of them I don’t have any problems. Some of them might not be needed, but they won’t hurt. You will want to open your terminal by pressing ‘Ctrl+Alt+T’, and copy and paste these lines into the terminal and press enter. To paste into the terminal you can not just press ‘Ctrl+V’ you need to press ‘Ctrl+Shift+V’. And if for some reason you need to kill a process that is running in your terminal you need to press ‘Ctrl+C’. So here are all the dependencies, this is easily the longest part of the tutorial.
