As you can see, there are many different cryptocurrencies out there and each one of them offers something different. They were all created with certain criteria or functionality in mind, and many more developers continue generating new and improved functions amongst the existing cryptocurrencies, as well as generating new ones to satisfying the ever demanding users.
Whatever your reason, there are ways to sell and trade bitcoin to fit your need. That is what makes it so interesting to people in the bitcoin world: If you're not content to mine bitcoin, spend it or passively hold onto it in hopes that the price rises, you can treat it like it's a stock. A cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography for security. A cryptocurrency is difficult to counterfeit because of this security feature. Many cryptocurrencies are decentralized systems based on blockchain technology, a distributed ledger enforced by a disparate network of computers. A defining feature of a cryptocurrency, and arguably its biggest allure, is its organic nature; it is not issued by any central authority, rendering it theoretically immune to government interference or manipulation.
Why is using blockchain and decentralizing a currency so important to its success? The answer to this question boils down to the ability to cut out the proverbial middle man responsible for verifying all transaction who in the real world charge the users for this action. What does this mean for the user? The transaction fees are set by the users. In theory, there doesn’t have to be a transaction fee at all to complete each transaction, but there is the matter of speed and how quickly you want your transaction to be added to the blockchain. If you need everything done now and want your transaction to be accelerated to the top of the list, then expect to pay a small amount for your transaction. The thing is, it doesn’t matter how much money you are sending in your transaction, low or high it is all equal to the roughly the same amount of data. Because of this, the fee will entirely be reflected only by how fast you want the transaction to be complete.

Full clients verify transactions directly by downloading a full copy of the blockchain (over 150 GB As of January 2018).[91] They are the most secure and reliable way of using the network, as trust in external parties is not required. Full clients check the validity of mined blocks, preventing them from transacting on a chain that breaks or alters network rules.[92] Because of its size and complexity, downloading and verifying the entire blockchain is not suitable for all computing devices.
Regardless of whether or not you made a successful trade, there’s always a lesson to be learned. No one manages to only make profitable trades, and no one gets to the point of making money without losing some money on the way. The important thing isn’t necessarily whether or not you made money. Rather, it’s whether you managed to gain some new insight into how to trade better next time.

As of February 2018, the Chinese Government halted trading of virtual currency, banned initial coin offerings and shut down mining. Some Chinese miners have since relocated to Canada.[32] One company is operating data centers for mining operations at Canadian oil and gas field sites, due to low gas prices.[33] In June 2018, Hydro Quebec proposed to the provincial government to allocate 500 MW to crypto companies for mining.[34] According to a February 2018 report from Fortune,[35] Iceland has become a haven for cryptocurrency miners in part because of its cheap electricity. Prices are contained because nearly all of the country’s energy comes from renewable sources, prompting more mining companies to consider opening operations in Iceland. The region’s energy company says bitcoin mining is becoming so popular that the country will likely use more electricity to mine coins than power homes in 2018. In October 2018 Russia will become home to one of the largest legal mining operations in the world, located in Siberia.

Poloniex was once the best cryptocurrency exchanges, before competitors like Bittrex starting offering superior services. Nevertheless Poloniex went through extremely fast traffic growth since the demise of its rival Cryptsy in 2016, and especially since the recent altcoin bubble of early 2017. Traffic has grown from 33 million monthly visits in November 2017 to 66 million in December 2017. Poloniex has the nicest trading interface out there, both for mobile and desktop users this will work wonders. Please note that because Poloniex is a pure "crypto" exchange, it is not possible to deposit government (fiat) currency. You'll need to first buy bitcoin elsewhere, and then deposit it to be able to tade. I've written a full analysis of Poloniex, further exploring the founders, users, security, fees, history, and alternatives.

But while cryptocurrencies are more used for payment, its use as a means of speculation and a store of value dwarfs the payment aspects. Cryptocurrencies gave birth to an incredibly dynamic, fast-growing market for investors and speculators. Exchanges like Okcoin, poloniex or shapeshift enables the trade of hundreds of cryptocurrencies. Their daily trade volume exceeds that of major European stock exchanges.
If it’s lower fees you’re after, LocalBitcoins is another good option because the site simply puts buyers and sellers in contact with one other and offers an escrow service to ensure nobody gets ripped off. It is solely for bitcoin trading but a benefit it has is that it operates in all countries and buyers can pay for Bitcoins however they like, though most pay via cash deposit. Just remember to follow the rules of the site and beware of scammers.

I have heard that leaving your currency on Coinbase is very safe for those hodling. They put 98% of currencies in cold storage. Is this not true?. I still don’t know how to put mine in cold storage (hard wallets) no matter how many times i read about it. Very computer illiterate plus afraid of losing everything if i do it wrong. The simple answer is: just like physical currency exchanges. You're essentially buying one currency with another. The relative value of a nation's physical currency is a reflection of the country's economic and financial health, especially since we moved off of the gold standard. The U.S. dollar, for example, is worth more than that of the Mexican peso due to the discrepancies between the two countries' economies—therefore you can buy lots of pesos for very few dollars (the dollars being relatively more valuable).
Bitcoin’s first mover advantage, popularity, and network effect has cemented it as the most popular cryptocurrency with the largest market cap. Rivals like Litecoin may have numerous technical advantages over Bitcoin’s algorithm (see more about that here), but they only hold a fraction of Bitcoin’s market cap and their dwindling communities largely consist of loyalists, speculators, and antagonistic anti-Bitcoin buyers.

We recommend you to cross check Bitcoin exchanges with their local government authorities, before signing in. Do check whether the Bitcoin Exchange is fully complied with the regulations and whether they are regulated or not; also check whether it has been involved in any malicious and unethical activity before or not. You may also choose to read independent reviews, available online before making any decision. We recommend
A cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency designed to work as a medium of exchange. It uses cryptography to secure and verify transactions as well as to control the creation of new units of a particular cryptocurrency. Essentially, cryptocurrencies are limited entries in a database that no one can change unless specific conditions are fulfilled.
Nakamoto is estimated to have mined one million bitcoins[27] before disappearing in 2010, when he handed the network alert key and control of the code repository over to Gavin Andresen. Andresen later became lead developer at the Bitcoin Foundation.[28][29] Andresen then sought to decentralize control. This left opportunity for controversy to develop over the future development path of bitcoin.[30][29]
