Zcash makes use of the Equihash algorithm – a Proof of Work algorithm that is unique to Zcash for now. It was invented by Alex Biryukov and Dmitry Khovratovich, and makes use of Wagner’s algorithm to provide the PoW that’s required for consensus in the Zcash Blockchain.

Linux users would probably want to go and try the  latest version of the Silentarmy miner that also brought support for Nvidia GPUs and is apparently providing similar performance as the NiceHash release for Windows. Also the Silentarmy miner is doing pretty well on AMD hardware, so do try it as well if you have such mining rigs and are running them on Linux.

The GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti is NVIDIA’s new flagship gaming GPU, based on the NVIDIA Pascal™ architecture. The latest addition to the ultimate gaming platform, this card is packed with extreme gaming horsepower, next-gen 11 Gbps GDDR5X memory, and a massive 11 GB frame buffer.

The world of cryptocurrencies is growing at an accelerated pace. The crypto market cap continues to grow with record breaking volumes. The basis for creating value in the crypto world is the mining process for major and veteran coins – with Bitcoin leading them.

The EWBF Zcash Cuda Miner is written primarily for Nvidia cards running under Windows, and in its description the developer indicates that it is: “Written for Pascal GPUs but works on cards with at least 1Gb memory, and Compute Capability 2 and higher.”

Replace “eu” for your location, “ZEC-ADDRESS” for your zcash wallet address (transparent address), replace “-t 8” for the number of threads you want to use, and lastly replace “-og 0” for the number of GPUs you’re using (as in -og 0 1 2 if you’re using 3 GPUs)

Genoil’s latest ZECMiner is pretty much the fastest public OpenCL miner (Windows binaries only) for Zcash at the moment, though there are some stability issues with cards dropping to 0 Sol/s and the miner crashing. The situation improves with each new version, but the miner is still not that good stability wise. The latest Nheqminer supports OpenCL mining, but is slower than ZECMiner, even though stability wise it is better… it is much better for CPU and CUDA mining though. Hopefully soon there will be other faster GPU miners that will offer more stability and features along the improved mining speeds, but for now you will need to do with what is currently available.

For those with inexpensive power, this is not an issue. For those with expensive power, it can be the largest recurring cost for Zcash mining. Using our power consumption and hash rate data, here is what profit per day looks like with $0.10/ kWh, $0.20/ kWh and $0.40/ kWh power:

I started with EBWF then I discovered DSTM which was the tits with the hashrate but it was fairly unstable if I tried to adjust the vid cards through MSI AB giving me hard freezes or bsods. Sometimes they happened a short while after I walked away after adjusting a setting to give it time to settle. Sometimes hours later.

I was skeptical so I have tested myself. This miner is faster than dstm on my rigs by ~2%. The difference is small though. Here is the post I have in bitcointalk, with all screenshots and all my mining logs.

For the purpose of this guide, we’re going to do a detailed walk-through of setting up and using the very popular Nvidia EWBF Miner. If you have AMD cards, mining Ethereum is usually your most profitable option.

The issue is that ewbf is not the fastest miner availible so it should be compared to dtsm´s miner and the increases are not that significant. But the 1080 boost seems nice, i will test it on my rigs.

I think nowadays altcoin mining become faded. Since mining is not a good solution for scaling up the altcoin. The altcoin is going to change from POW to POs. And there are more and more ICO with fixed amount of tokens. So the future of mining is not so optimistic…

Not Tech Savvy? No problem – we’ve got live support on our 800 number available Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm to help keep you mining. Got a problem that we’re not able to coach you through over the phone? We’ve got you covered – Freedom Miner has a remote desktop application built in and with a couple of clicks you can authorize one of our engineers to access your rig and make the repair remotely.

The dstm’s ZCash Nvidia miner has been available for a while and we’ve been keeping a track, but it was only for Linux operating systems – not anymore. With the latest version 0.5.2 the miner is also released for Windows in a 64-bit binary and not anymore available only for Linux miners. The miner is closed source one and comes with a 2% developer fee included. It support Nvidia-based GPUs with Compute Capability 5.0 or later, meaning it is for Maxwell or the newer Pascal video cards. There is support available for stratum as well as for NiceHash’s extranonce, so it can be used there as well without problems for selling Equihash hashrate.

Good morning from Q City, so i have a noobynoob question. I am very beginner and now I mining on 3 PC. Two of them mine ethereum using 470×2 and 480×2 – I`m using dwarfpool and Claymore`s Dual miner and everything is okay when i check my wallet raits the balance is growing like beautiful garden with hundreds of mexicans working on it, !!BUT!! on my third PC I am using single msi gtx1080 gaming X to mine some zec using dwarfpool and nheqminer5c it working on 400 sol/s but my balanace is still 0.0000 after 10 hours of mine. So what the problem, or my mistake>>??? Im using wallet creating on HitBTC, is it okay>>>>?? HELP PLZ!!

I will go through start to finish on how to set up a Zcash miner on Ubuntu. This is because if you are mining with an Nvidia Graphics card the windows drivers are a little wonky so you will be limiting your hashrate. For me I have 2 GTX 980ti’s in my gaming computer. When I mine Ethereum on windows I get around 5 Mh/s and when I mine on Ubuntu I get 40 Mh/s. For those of you with gaming computers this can be a nice passive source of income while you aren’t playing games. Also AMD GPUs tend to be better at mining Ethereum, but Nvidia GPUs are better at mining Zcash. So if you have an Nvidia GPU I would suggest to mine Zcash. I do. If you have AMD GPU’s I would suggest looking at this guide here.

The miner still needs some work, especially on Nvidia GPUs where by default it is pretty heavy on the CPU load and memory usage as well. It is recommended that Nvidia users add the parameter –enable-nv-hotfix in order to reduce the CPU load a bit, but still running the miner on the main GPU may make the system a bit unresponsive even with that parameter. Still if you are interested in mining MNX (even with the high hashrate and low block reward at the moment) or any other Equihash 96/5 coin you might want to check the lolMiner-mnx out.

The good news is that getting started with Zcash mining is very simple. You don’t need to download the full Zcash blockchain or manage clunky command-line miners with manual instructions; you can mine directly to an exchange or to a hardware wallet such as Trezor or Ledger Nano S. Of course, you should always do your due diligence to ensure your coins will be properly supported before sending them anywhere.

Dear Steven, I read that article. But there is a problem me. My graphic card is not related to the article. AMD or other. Therefore when I run the batch file. The error occurred. Error say. GPU card not found. Can i change the configuration data for my GVA (Intel Graphic)

–server us1-zcash.flypool.org  (the — indicates a parameter with a valid keyword will follow, in this case server. Then a space and the variable for the parameter, in this case the flypool server address.)

In the example above we’re mining on USA stratum pool. We have a quad-core CPU with hyper-threading (8 threads available) and only one NVIDIA GPU in the computer. We are mining with 6 threads on the CPU and on the whole NVIDIA GPU.

If you are new in crypto like me and don’t know where to start or what to do, check this article, it helped me find the good exchanges, save a lot in commission fees and showed me how to earn free coins (not many but a little of different coins, who knows, maybe one day they will be worth a lot) :

Keep in mind that many of the pools above support several other cryptocurrencies. Also, considering that the field is very active, there might be other pools that have emerged since the time of writing.

I think I will end this guide at this point for now as it is getting to be quite long. While I originally intended to cover fine tuning and going over other optional arguments that the EWBF miner can use, I think I will wait and make this a two part guide. For now this Part 1 covers the basic setup and configuration of getting the EWBF miner running and shares being submitted to a pool. Since it will usually take some time before reaching a pools minimal payout period anyway, especially for just one or two cards, we have some time.

The only drawback is that the miner currently only supports connection to NiceHash, so you cannot use it with other pools. While this might nit be bad during the slow start of ZEC mining, after that you might still want to go for mining and keeping Zcash instead of immediately selling it for profit. Hopefully in the next few weeks we are also going to see more development happening for Nvidia users and that goes not only for Linux, but for Windows users as well.
