Their prices are now a bit higher than the above alternative since the latest announcement of hashrate upgrade, but there is an active promotional code for them as well that is following a recent Halloween promotion going for all knids of cloud mining hashrate being offered. You can use the promo code HF16HLLWN10 to get a 10% discount from the regular price of $4.20 USD per 0.1 H/s for the EQUIHASH cloud mining hashrate being offered at the moment. Do note however that this discount code will be valid only until 06.11.2016 23:59 (UTC +0) when the promotional offer will expire.
I have a lowly GTX 1060 and only started mining with it two days ago. I used ewbf first because it was listed first on miningpoolhub. After playing with it some, it would peak for me about 291 h/s. The average was closer to 288. I could push it to 300, but only by risking arrest for GPU abuse. I switched to dstm last night and am averaging 314 h/s. Even with the fee, I’m better off. Your mileage may vary.
If all is looking good at this point, congratulations, you have successfully setup the EWBF miner and pointed it to a pool and are earning Zcash. After some time you can go to the Payouts tab to get a rough estimate of your expected income, but the numbers don’t really mean much until at least 24 hours of constant mining have gone by.
Incentivizing the creation of open source miners will enable a wider community to mine for Zcash coins and take ownership of the network as a public good. While we expect a full range in size of Zcash miners to exist, the more individuals who run a miner (whether GPU or CPU) the stronger the network.
The world of cryptocurrencies is growing at an accelerated pace. The crypto market cap continues to grow with record breaking volumes. The basis for creating value in the crypto world is the mining process for major and veteran coins – with Bitcoin leading them.
However, if you have Nvidia cards, or if you’re in the market to buy new cards and can’t find any well-priced AMD cards, then mining Zcash on Nvidia GPUs is still very profitable with the EWBF Miner, which is highly optimized to get the maximum performance out of Nvidia’s Cuda cores.
It has better hashrates for ZEC and ETH. Equihash about 780 h/s and Eth around 28 to 30 mh/s with moderate overclocking (only power limit and clock speed) with 100 % fan. Reliable and stays cool around 65 to 75 C with high intensity settings. Used Nicehash at first but experimenting with different pools at the moment.
Click on “workers” and choose one of the jobs (Account’s default jobs) according to your card. Run the file you have created (mine.bat). Make that there are no errors and that a message approving your worker has been received. If you did not get this message, it means you did something wrong. After the program starts running you will see that the worker (called the miner) is added to the “workers” screen. On the site, click “Dashboard” to see data about the mining (it will take some time until you see something; it is updated according to the work that the mining machine does).
You mention Linux, my only question is… are you gaming on Linux as well, or just dual booting? I know there isn’t an nvidia-docker for Windows, so I was wondering the easiest/quickest way to start up a zcash instance on the side.
For the purpose of this guide, we’re going to do a detailed walk-through of setting up and using the very popular Nvidia EWBF Miner. If you have AMD cards, mining Ethereum is usually your most profitable option.
In order to mine using this guide, there are two things that you’ll need. The first is a wallet to store your funds. There are currently multiple GUI wallets available and you can compare them here. You can also use this guide to learn how to install one of them on Linux. It is also possible to use an exchange as a wallet but we do not recommend it.
I use the MSI GTX 1080 TI AERO. These cards are the best in performance and cooling. They have from to back airflow that keep these cards cooler than most. Note: Do not buy the Gigabyte version of these. They have firmware issues and crash.
Mining This is the process by which new blocks are created and all Bitcoin transactions are verified. Mining is actually a poor name for the process taking place, but caught on due to the hope of completing a block and winning the attached Bitcoin reward.
On October 28, 2016, the launch of Zcash made ZEC coins available for mining. Since Zcash is an open source, decentralized cryptocurrency, we believe that mining for ZEC is an important way to help strengthen and decentralize the Zcash community, contribute to computer science, and win our gratitude and a prize. Mining should be available to everyone, regardless of their access to specialized hardware; anyone should be able to use a computer to “mine” by using open source software, and add more transactions to the Zcash ledger to possibly get Zcash coins in return for their effort. By distributing the ability to perform mining with open source software, the Zcash network can be a more accessible and a truly community-supported cryptocurrency.
To achieve this, we need open source miners for anyone to use. The Zcash Company sponsored the Zcash Open Source Miner Challenge operated by Least Authority. The Winners and Runners Up of this challenge are listed on the submissions page.
I think I will end this guide at this point for now as it is getting to be quite long. While I originally intended to cover fine tuning and going over other optional arguments that the EWBF miner can use, I think I will wait and make this a two part guide. For now this Part 1 covers the basic setup and configuration of getting the EWBF miner running and shares being submitted to a pool. Since it will usually take some time before reaching a pools minimal payout period anyway, especially for just one or two cards, we have some time.
