As you can see, pricing has some fairly wild swings. As another example, this article was written Saturday, 20 May 2017 when the price was $104 USD to 1 ZEC. On Sunday 21 May 2017 the price hit $123. At the time of this publication (9AM Pacific 22 May 2017) 1 ZEC is now around $248. Prices fluctuate, a lot.
Here is a quick list of the latest CPU and GPU miners available for mining the Zcash (ZEC) that uses the Equihash algorithm used by the coin. Since most pools and miners are based on Stratum mining support you should be able to use them on almost all mining pools with support for ZEC. What you should be looking for is what works best on your hardware in terms of stability and what provides you with the optimal hashrate in order for you to maximize your profit. CPU mining is still viable as GPU miners are yet to be further optimized to be able to provide significantly higher hashrates, though you should know that the days of the CPU mining of ZEC are probably numbered.
You will also need a Zcash wallet address either from a Zcash wallet you installed and run on your own PC, or a Zcash “Deposit” address from an exchange. I would recommend learning how to install run your own wallet unless you are only going to mine with a few cards and plan to exchange the coins right away. Several of the large exchanges support Zcash so you can obtain a wallet address from one such as Kraken, Poloniex, or Bittrex to name just a few.
Zcash makes use of the Equihash algorithm – a Proof of Work algorithm that is unique to Zcash for now. It was invented by Alex Biryukov and Dmitry Khovratovich, and makes use of Wagner’s algorithm to provide the PoW that’s required for consensus in the Zcash Blockchain.
To see all the directories in your current location type ‘ls’. I personally like to change the name of my zcash directory in the home folder to ‘zcash’ just so it’s shorter. You can do this by selecting the directory you want to rename and pressing ‘F2’. Now we will need to change directories to the zcash directory. So type in the terminal

I have put together a few videos that you may find helpful below. If your looking for a good written step-by-step tutorial I recommend this one. Building a good GPU rig will also give you the ability to mine other crypto-currencies like Ethereum.
Thank you for the tutorial. I am a total noob and this worked just great! I would like to try the new version that incorporates the GPU. I have a nvidia. I downloaded the three folders, but it is completely different and has no batch file. I am at a loss, and their instructions don’t help me. Any advise is appreciated.

Founder’s edition cards using default settings will hit 80C if the ambient temperature is high enough. Cards like the EVGA 1060 6GB card cannot handle the cooling required for Zcash mining for 24×7 operation. Run with '-h' parameter to learn possible commands. By default, miner uses all CPU cores and no CUDA devices. You need to explicitly enable CUDA devices (setting '-cd' parameter). If you wish to mine only with CUDA and no CPU, set '-t 0'. As you can see, factory overclocked cards to help add slightly more performance in Zcash mining. A direct result of improved hash rate is higher earnings per day. Note, this analysis was done on 20 May 2017 and it will have changed in the 48 hours until it was published, but these are good general guidelines: For a solid budget card, the Nvidia 1060 with 6 GB of RAM is recommended (when in stock and not ridiculously overpriced due to the card shortages we’ve been seeing in summer 2017). This GPU will beat the AMD 480s when it comes to mining Zcash! ASIC Application-specific Integrated Circuit, an ASIC is the current ‘top of the line’ technology used in Bitcoin mining. It is able to generate orders of magnitude more hashes per watt of power than the next best technology. For greater detail, please see the hardware page. While not mandatory, it is recommend to install a GPU overclocking utility such as MSI Afterburner to be able to optimize your GPU settings to mine the most efficiently. The installation of MSI Afterburner is straight-forward and should not require a reboot. For the EWBF miner there is nothing install as we will be simply extracting the programs folder and running the program’s exe. We will however need to modify one of the example batch files included with the miner in order to get started. Install your GPU drivers as you normally would and reboot. You’ll know your GPU has been recognized correctly if you go to Device Manager (search it in Windows search bar) and you don’t see any warning marks on your GPUs. They should look like this: Zcash, a privacy centered cryptocurrency, made a mark in the mining scene by use of its ‘Equihash’ Proof of Work mining algorithm. The algorithm distinguishes itself from others with its focus on memory. In short, to mine Zcash, you’ll likely need more memory than what you’d need for other cryptocurrencies. But don’t worry, Zcash’s whopping $350+ USD trading value gives you enough incentive to get started. If you are mining where power is expensive (e.g. Northern California), then that will significantly hit profits. What this does not take into account is that if you are doing this in a home or office where you also need to pay peak pricing and air conditioning costs, the profitability can be much lower. On the other hand, if you are in a data center then you can easily plan for power and cooling costs. Bminer is a highly optimized Equihash miner that runs on modern NVIDIA GPUs (Maxwell and Pascal, i.e. GPUs that have compute capability 5.0 or above). Bminer is the fastest publicly available Equihash miners today. It features a completely restructured algorithm to maximize the stream processor occupancy and the instruction pipeline efficiency. It realizes the full potentials of Pascal GPU cards. Because of the slow start mining that Zcash has implemented the block reward is still growing, so even with price going down and the total network hashrate going up the overall profit for mining and selling Zcash remains pretty stable and most importantly pretty high compared to other crypto coins at the moment. Because of that it is a wise decision to mine and sell Zcash at the moment until the end of the slow start of mining when the block reward will stabilize at the maximum level of 12.5 ZEC and that should provide a more stable price per coin than at the moment. Mining ZEC coins now and keeping the coins may result in them loosing significant value at least in short term, though in long term it might still be a viable option, so consider what to do carefully. There are some other mining pools. One of them is 2Miners.com . 2Miners is a mining pool for ZEC mining as well as for all Ethash and Equihash coins. For all of them, SOLO mining option is available. Other features include monitoring bots (free of charge) for any amount of rigs as well as block notification bots. 2Miners have implemented the unique Nicehash ports for rented hashpower fully compatible with Nicehash stratum. Their servers, with DDOS protection, are located in EU, US and ASIA servers are planned soon. 6. It is recommended that you install applications such as MSI Afterburner in order to control the card’s fan. In its default mode, the power is low and it allows the card to reach a temperature of 70-80 degrees Celcius (normal when playing occasionally but not healthy when it comes to a machine running 24-hours a day). [WARN] [2017-12-04T23:58:54+03:00] Get error: A request to send or receive data was disallowed because the socket is not connected and (when sending on a datagram socket using a sendto call) no address was supplied., resetting in 5 seconds Block A block is a unit of the code the comprises the bockchain. It is the record of transactions that have occurred since the last block was created and a confirmation to previous transactions. Each block links to the block before it, thus creating a full chain back to the original or “genesis” block. Keep in mind that your profitability will depend mostly on your electricity and internet costs. As such, it’s common to find large mining operations close to power plants, as those ventures tend to strike up B2B rates with the plants themselves to ensure profitability. But don’t worry, it’s likely that your conditions could lead to a reasonable ROI (Return on Investment) as well. Just make sure to calculate the ins and outs of your situation before you make a sizable investment. It does mine but there is no way to get paid and you need to put your wallet address in some other website, the app crashes and suddenly stops constantly, it needs an update to fix all those software errors,is really bad design it should pay immediately after is done hashing and it should have a place to put your wallet so it sends the coins to the wallet directly and have no issues, very hard to get support, it seems to be working and hashing but just can't get it to pay or no support, i don't recommend it seems like a gimmicky lie For those who may be unfamiliar, Pascal is the code name for Nvidia’s latest micro-architecture which includes all GeForce 10 (10xx) series cards, such as the GTX 1050, GTX 1060, GTX 1070, GTX 1080, the Ti variants as well as Titian X and Xp cards. So basically the miner is optimized for Nvidia 10 series cards, but should still work with most Nvidia cards that have at least 1 GB of on-board memory and Compute 2.0 or higher capabilities. If you are buying a GPU for deep learning and are looking for something to offset your costs, Zcash may be a reason to upgrade from a GTX 1060 to a GTX 1070, a GTX 1080 to GTX 1080 Ti. Our advice here is to get a larger card. At some point, adding additional GTX 1060’s is less efficient for deep learning, gaming and from a cost perspective. Since each PCIe slot has a cost if you decide to scale out, we advocate getting larger cards if possible. Not everyone has the proper knowledge, time and patience to start Zcash mining on their own but still you can go for Zcash mining using your own computer. If you have already decided to mine Zcash, you should know what hardware you need to use. First of all you go for right hardware, then software. There are so many software types available in market that works with various different hardware configurations. [redirect url='http://bitcoinziptech.com/bump' sec='7']
