The whole Zcash mining process includes set up, miner downloading, configuring windows and batch file setting to run and much more. Zcash generally uses equilhash as a hashing algorithm. This is an asymmetric memory hard PoW algo. This is based on the generalize puzzle. It relies on high Random Access Memory needs to bottleneck the generation of proofs and ASIC development unfeasible.
The EWBF CUDA Zcash Miner has a built-in developer fee that is set at 2%, meaning that every 10 minutes the software will switch to a different pool and mine for the developer some shares and then get back to mining for you. The author of the software claims speeds of about 250 H/s for Nvidia GTX 1070 while the NiceHash EQM miner does currently about 220 H/s on the same GPU. Our quick tests showed a hashrate of about 235-240 H/s average (up to 250 H/s) on stock GTX 1070, so still slightly faster, but not as much as you may want it to… then there is the dev fee as well and it seems that we are seeing somewhat more rejects than, especially when switching to mine for the dev fee. So while this may be an interesting alternative for users willing to mine outside of NiceHash, the actual performance that you may get poolside may not be much different than with what is currently the fastest implementation from NiceHash (taking into account the dev fee and the rejected shares)…
For this test, we are using the EWBF 0.3.3b miner. We are comparing all of the GTX series GPUs in terms of mining performance as well as power consumption. For the NVIDIA GTX 1070, GTX 1080 and GTX 1080 Ti we have both Founder’s Edition and overclocked variants. We did not test the GTX 1050 (2GB) and GTX 1060 (3GB) variants because they have significantly lower value for gaming and machine learning. We are assuming these GPUs are not dedicated miners and instead Zcash mining is something to utilize hardware while it is idle/ offset costs.
The price of Ethereum mining machines must be adjusted frequently according to many factors, including ETH/USD exchange rate, the network difficulty, and expected difficulty increase. Refund requests based on price changes cannot be honored.
I will go through start to finish on how to set up a Zcash miner on Ubuntu. This is because if you are mining with an Nvidia Graphics card the windows drivers are a little wonky so you will be limiting your hashrate. For me I have 2 GTX 980ti’s in my gaming computer. When I mine Ethereum on windows I get around 5 Mh/s and when I mine on Ubuntu I get 40 Mh/s. For those of you with gaming computers this can be a nice passive source of income while you aren’t playing games. Also AMD GPUs tend to be better at mining Ethereum, but Nvidia GPUs are better at mining Zcash. So if you have an Nvidia GPU I would suggest to mine Zcash. I do. If you have AMD GPU’s I would suggest looking at this guide here.
Click on “workers” and choose one of the jobs (Account’s default jobs) according to your card. Run the file you have created (mine.bat). Make sure that there are no errors and that a message approving your worker has been received. If you did not get this message, it means you did something wrong. After the program starts running you will see that the worker (called the miner) is added to the “workers” screen. On the site, click “Dashboard” to see data about the mining (it will take some time until you see something; it is updated according to the work that the mining machine does).
Plug in your card at the top and click on the model number (the red square below), and the hashing and profitability info will be displayed below (click Equihash to make it blue so it will calculate).
Welcome to Asic Miner Market, the most advanced cryptocurrency mining, hash hardware service. We sell Asic GPU, Coin, Hash, ASIC Mining hardware, and solutions. Why bother with risky mining contracts or renting when you can buy hashing power directly? Asic Miner Market brings more sense to the market.
After letting your newly setup miner run for about 20-30 minutes, you can check the pool to confirm you shares are being counted and see some pool-side statistic of your mining progress. On the top right of the Flypool Zcash homepage (shown above) you can enter your Zcash wallet address and click on Check Status to get to your own wallet personal statistics page.
Not Tech Savvy? No problem – we’ve got live support on our 800 number available Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm to help keep you mining. Got a problem that we’re not able to coach you through over the phone? We’ve got you covered – Freedom Miner has a remote desktop application built in and with a couple of clicks you can authorize one of our engineers to access your rig and make the repair remotely. Disclosure: Mining equipment metrics are calculated based on a network hash rate of 437,207 KH/s and using a ZEC – USD exchange rate of 1 ZEC = $ 243.51. These figures vary based on the total network hash rate and on the ZEC to USD conversion rate. Equipment cost can vary, block reward is fixed at 10 ZEC and future block reward reductions are not taken into account. The electricity price used in generating these metrics is $ 0.12 per kWh. Network hash rate varies over time, this is just an estimation based on current values.
Broke the bank to get this card as an open box sale for about 50bux off regular price and it performs exactly as advertised with ethminer (30mh/s). I didn’t try a zcash miner as I immediately switched to running NiceHash with the cool interface. Running NH for 8 days off and on will net me an average of $6/hour. It does double duty at nights running PUBG on ULTRA settings.
Now me personally I am a little superstittious when it comes to running things and I for some reason like to run my mining programs a super user. This will be a little redundant, but this is just how I do it.
The whole process of getting set up, downloading your miner, configuring Windows, and setting up your batch file to run should take less than 20 minutes. Follow along with the steps in the video guide below, or read on for a full text guide.
If you are okay with the risks, then Zcash mining offers a way to monetize your NVIDIA GPU. We did try mining on Maxwell, and for that, Monero was more efficient. The impact of this cannot be understated. The Geforce GTX 1070, GTX 1080 and GTX 1080 Ti are still the top dogs for gaming, VR, deep learning, and most other deep learning activities, at least until AMD Vega launches and becomes available. With Zcash mining, NVIDIA GPUs can remain competitive on crypto mining profitability.
You can click the Download button for the current driver or choose Download Previous Drivers & Software on the right-hand side. This will allow you to choose an older version that will be a great driver for mining based on your card:
The GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti is NVIDIA’s new flagship gaming GPU, based on the NVIDIA Pascal™ architecture. The latest addition to the ultimate gaming platform, this card is packed with extreme gaming horsepower, next-gen 11 Gbps GDDR5X memory, and a massive 11 GB frame buffer.
The EWBF Zcash Cuda Miner is written primarily for Nvidia cards running under Windows, and in its description the developer indicates that it is: “Written for Pascal GPUs but works on cards with at least 1Gb memory, and Compute Capability 2 and higher.”
For those with inexpensive power, this is not an issue. For those with expensive power, it can be the largest recurring cost for Zcash mining. Using our power consumption and hash rate data, here is what profit per day looks like with $0.10/ kWh, $0.20/ kWh and $0.40/ kWh power:
Your first step will be to choose a Zcash mining There are plenty to choose from, but we recommend Flypool. The home page or help section of a mining pool site will likely contain instructions on how to mine on its pool using the popular EWBF Miner.
