Right click on the bat file called “flypool” and hit Edit. The file will open in Notepad. Paste what you’ve copied from the flypool website. I’m going to update my server to “us1” instead of “eu1,” and I’m also going to remove the “—cuda_devices” language at the end. This language is used if you want to designate mining only to certain devices (for example, if you want to game with one GPU and mine with the other two). If you want to mine with all devices, you can delete the —cuda_devices designation.
Once you have these downloaded open up Linux Live, select your usb you want to use and select the Ubuntu 14.04 iso you just downloaded. Then press the lightning button. Once it is done reboot your PC, and boot into the BIOS. You can usually do this by pressing F2 or F12 when the computer is booting up. Once you are here select ‘Boot Menu’ and select your USB drive. From here it is pretty self explanatory.
If you want to dual-boot and not just clean install you will need this step. Right click on the windows start menu, on the bottom left and select ‘Disk Management’. The EWBF Zcash Cuda Miner is written primarily for Nvidia cards running under Windows, and in its description the developer indicates that it is: “Written for Pascal GPUs but works on cards with at least 1Gb memory, and Compute Capability 2 and higher.”
The card should have at least 1 GB of RAM, or it won’t be able to properly mine Zcash. This is a correction from the video, as EWBF supports GPUs with just 1 GB of RAM, compared to Ethereum’s 3 GB requirement. However, many older cards may not be energy efficient enough to turn a profit, so check on whattomine.com by entering your card’s info.
The EWBF CUDA Zcash Miner has a built-in developer fee that is set at 2%, meaning that every 10 minutes the software will switch to a different pool and mine for the developer some shares and then get back to mining for you. The author of the software claims speeds of about 250 H/s for Nvidia GTX 1070 while the NiceHash EQM miner does currently about 220 H/s on the same GPU. Our quick tests showed a hashrate of about 235-240 H/s average (up to 250 H/s) on stock GTX 1070, so still slightly faster, but not as much as you may want it to… then there is the dev fee as well and it seems that we are seeing somewhat more rejects than, especially when switching to mine for the dev fee. So while this may be an interesting alternative for users to mine outside of NiceHash, the actual performance that you may get poolside may not be much different than with what is currently the fastest implementation from NiceHash (taking into account the dev fee and the rejected shares)…
