In the miner window it reports higher hashrates for 1060 3GB, approximately 20 sols/s more compared compared to ewbf or 10 sol/s more compared dstm miner. Now it needs to be tested if hashrate on the pool is as high as reported.

Several months ago, we tried Zcash mining in Docker and even published Docker containers for CPU mining. Although we have CUDA enabled Monero mining containers, they performed well, but not significantly better than CPU mining. I think nowadays altcoin mining become faded. Since mining is not a good solution for scaling up the altcoin. The altcoin is going to change from POW to POs. And there are more and more ICO with fixed amount of tokens. So the future of mining is not so optimistic…

If are buying a GPU for deep learning and are looking for something to offset your costs, Zcash may be a reason to upgrade from a GTX 1060 to a GTX 1070, a GTX 1080 to GTX 1080 Ti. Our advice here is to get a larger card. At some point, adding additional GTX 1060’s is less efficient for deep learning, gaming and from a cost perspective. When it comes to mining ZCash (ZEC) or other Equihash-based crypto coins on Nvidia GPUs for most people it is time for the EWBF ZCash CUDA miner, however it seems that the development of that miner has been abandoned a while ago. There have been a few alternatives available that we have covered with dstm’s ZCash Cuda Miner being a very promising successor. The problem with it was that there were a few key features that were missing up until recently, but that is no longer the case with this miner. So if you were reluctant to give it a try, now you might want to reconsider and test it on your Nvidia mining hardware.

Just in time for Christmas a new NiceHash EQM 1.0.4a miner is available with about 10-15% speed boost for owners of Nvidia GPUs mining Zcash (ZEC). Like previous versions of the EQM miner it will only work for selling your hashrate on NiceHash, so not able to mine on another pool with it. The latest speed bump is intended for SM52 and SM61 capable Nvidia GPUs (that means only 9xx and 10xx cards), so no speedups for owners for first gen Maxwell GTX 750 (Ti) unfortunately. Currently only a Windows version is available. We are seeing a nice bump from about 320 H/s with the previous version to a little over 360 H/s on a stock GTX 1070 GPU with the 1.0.4a, overclocking brings even more hashrate.
