Dear NiceHash users! As you might have noticed our Twitter account has been suspended for a few days. In collaboration with Twitter, we have now resolved the issue and our Twitter account is… Read more
FPGA Field Programmable Gate Array, an FPGA is the former king of the Bitcoin mining world. An FPGA is an integrated circuit whos function can be changed as it can be reprogrammed. This makes if more versatile than an ASIC, but far less efficient in its ability. They enjoyed a short time between GPUs and ASICs as the most efficient way to mine. For further details, please see our hardware page.
The biggest limitation of the official Zcash software is that it only takes advantage of your CPU to mine. If you have decided to build a dedicated GPU rig for mining the basic software will not be enough, you will need to decide on software that has been optimized to take advantage of your GPU’s.
I have put together a few videos that you may find helpful below. If your looking for a good written step-by-step tutorial I recommend this one. Building a good GPU rig will also give you the ability to mine other crypto-currencies like Ethereum.
AMD GPU miners were recently getting quite the boost thanks to Claymoreâs Zcash miner on Windows, but now Windows users with Nvidia GPUs also got a nice boost in ZEC mining performance thanks to the release of the NiceHash EQM Zcash Nvidia Optimized Miner. It kind of doubles the performance that people were getting with the nheqminer from Nicehash, so now with a 6x GTX 1070 GPUs for example you can be all the way up to about 400 H/s. Do note that the miner currently supports only newer Nvidia GPUs and will apparently not work on anything lower than SM 5.0 capable GPUs â Maxwell or Pascal.
Run and verify that the software is mining correctly. After several minutes check your pool for statistics (should see some shares appearing), and after minimum payout level is reached (could be days with one or two cards) check your wallet or exchange to confirm payment was sent by the pool and properly received.
6. If you notice there are some loose heatsinks when you receive the miner, please inform us by email to firstname.lastname@example.org within 3 days from the date the package is received according to UPS/DHL/FEDEX website.
All of these calculations can change based on mining difficulty as well as Zcash price fluctuations. Here is a view of what 1 December 2016 to 20 May 2017 Zcash pricing looks like via Poloniex (one of the larger exchanges):
First, head over to whattomine.com, which provides up-to-date figures for current prices, block times, and network hashrates (as measured in megahashes per second, or MH/s, denoting millions of calculations per second).
Notice I only have one GPU running. If you have multiple GPUs they all should be displayed as separate line entries starting with 0. At the top we can verify the mining program and version, the server, solver we are using (in this case the default or auto selected), devices configured for mining (more for multiple GPU systems, in our example just one even though it says all), max temperature limit of 90 degrees C (default setting) after which point the mining software will shutdown to prevent GPU damage, and information on if the optional API is enabled or disabled, as in our case.
