Today we are going to show you how to mine Zcash with your CPU and GPU on Windows. We are going to use two miners (Software) for each type of hardware: Nicehash miner for CPU and the claymore miner for GPU.
Ah, I see. Malware seem to be a huge problem on this forum. I took a look for a description to setup a VM quickly. It seems it not that easy. PCI/GPU-Passthrough seems to be very hardware dependent – not that easy to setup. I’ve really no good idea how to provide security for you, without opening the source. Well I guess someone has to try it out and report. Sry, but I have no better ideas for this.
Several months ago, we tried Zcash mining in Docker and even published Docker containers for CPU mining. Although we have CUDA enabled Monero mining containers, they performed well, but not significantly better than CPU mining. When we built a new image with Pascal GPUs we found that NVIDIA GPUs can keep up profitability in-line with using AMD GPUs to mine Zcash or Monero.
Genoil’s latest ZECMiner is pretty much the fastest public OpenCL miner (Windows binaries only) for Zcash at the moment, though there are some stability issues with cards dropping to 0 Sol/s and the miner crashing. The situation improves with each new version, but the miner is still not that good stability wise. The latest Nheqminer supports OpenCL mining, but is slower than ZECMiner, even though stability wise it is better… it is much better for CPU and CUDA mining though. Hopefully soon there will be other faster GPU miners that will offer more stability and features along the improved mining speeds, but for now you will need to do with what is currently available.
Your first step will be to choose a Zcash mining pool. There are plenty to choose from, but we recommend Flypool. The home page or help section of a mining pool site will likely contain instructions on how to mine on its pool using the popular EWBF Miner.
Once your Trezor is setup, then the Trezor web wallet will display a list of addresses under the Receive tab (if I remember the tab’s name correctly, it’s something like “Receive”). Just select any address listed there and plug it into your mining pool / software as your payout address.
6. It is recommended that you install applications such as MSI Afterburner in order to control the card’s fan. In its default mode, the power is low and it allows the card to reach a temperature of 70-80 degrees Celcius (normal when playing occasionally but not healthy when it comes to a machine running 24-hours a day).
In the example above we’re mining on USA stratum pool. We have a quad-core CPU with hyper-threading (8 threads available) and only one NVIDIA GPU in the computer. We are mining with 6 threads on the CPU and on the whole NVIDIA GPU.
Not everyone has the proper knowledge, time and patience to start Zcash mining on their own but still you can go for Zcash mining using your own computer. If you have already decided to mine Zcash, you should know what hardware you need to use. First of all you go for right hardware, then software. There are so many software types available in market that works with various different hardware configurations.
We all love getting consistent feedback for our work. After all, there’s nothing more frustrating than mining into the void. That’s why mining pools are so popular for miners nowadays. Instead of waiting to receive rewards on your own (which very long because of how unlikely it is), just join a pool to receive a fair proportion in the worth of your hash contribution to the network. Mining pools break up the rewards proportionally between all participants, which is why it’s the preferred way to mine for most lower-hash miners.
Right click on the bat file called “flypool” and hit Edit. The file will open in Notepad. Paste what you’ve copied from the flypool website. I’m going to update my server to “us1” instead of “eu1,” and I’m also going to remove the “—cuda_devices” language at the end. This language is used if you want to designate mining only to certain devices (for example, if you want to game with one GPU and mine with the other two). If you want to mine with all devices, you can delete the —cuda_devices designation.

It has better hashrates for ZEC and ETH. Equihash about 780 h/s and Eth around 28 to 30 mh/s with moderate overclocking (only power limit and clock speed) with 100 % fan. Reliable and stays cool around 65 to 75 C with high intensity settings. Used Nicehash at first but experimenting with different pools at the moment.
