The latest NiceHash EQM Zcash 1.0.3a is available for both Windows and Linux and promises up to 320 Sol/s on a stock GTX 1070, and up to 370 Sol/s on overclocked GTX 1070 (you need to use two instances per GPU for maximum performance). We can confirms hashrates that are very close to the ones claimed on the GTX 1070 and of course the miner also does well on other NVidia GPUs. Do note however that it does require SM 5.0 GPU, meaning Maxwell or Pascal as it will not work on older Nvidia architectures…

Zcash, a privacy centered cryptocurrency, made a mark in the mining scene by use of its ‘Equihash’ Proof of Work mining algorithm. I’m not sure about your version Windows but in mine, Task Manager does not display any info on the status of the graphics card. All I see is the performance of my CPU cores, memory and networking throughput.
Several months ago, we tried Zcash mining in Docker and even published Docker containers for CPU mining. Although we have CUDA enabled Monero mining containers, they performed well, but not significantly better than CPU mining. When we built a new image with Pascal GPUs we found that NVIDIA GPUs can keep up profitability in-line with using AMD GPUs to mine Zcash or Monero.
When it comes to mining ZCash (ZEC) or other Equihash-based crypto coins on Nvidia GPUs for most people it is time for the EWBF ZCash CUDA miner, however it seems that the development of that miner has been abandoned a while ago. There have been a few alternatives available that we have covered with dstm’s ZCash Cuda Miner being a very promising successor. The problem with it was that there were a few key features that were missing up until recently, but that is no longer the case with this miner. So if you were reluctant to give it a try, now you might want to reconsider and test it on your Nvidia mining hardware.
In terms of durability, Zcash will heat up your GPU 24×7 if you let it. Founder’s edition cards using default settings will hit 80C if the ambient temperature is high enough. Cards like the EVGA 1060 6GB card cannot handle the cooling required for Zcash mining for 24×7 operation.

Install your GPU drivers as you normally would and reboot. You’ll know your GPU has been recognized correctly if you go to Device Manager (search it in Windows search bar) and you don’t see any warning marks on your GPUs. They should look like this:

Ah, I see. Malware seem to be a huge problem on this forum. I took a look for a description to setup a VM quickly. It seems it not that easy. PCI/GPU-Passthrough seems to be very hardware dependent – not that easy to setup. I’ve really no good idea how to provide security for you, without opening the source. Well I guess someone has to try it out and report. Sry, but I have no better ideas for this.

Another cloud mining service provider that has been available for quite some time already as well – HashFlare has also announced their plans for offering cloud mining hashrate for Zcash (ZEC). They have already started the presale of mining contracts with a price of 4.20 USD per 0.1 H/s with the launch of mining planned to start before 21.11.16, so you will be able to catch some of the slow start mining period as well. Each of their Zcash cloud mining contracts will last for 1 year (from activation) and will not have any additional fees as everything is apparently included in the price.
Claymore’s Zcash (ZEC) AMD miner has been updated a couple of times already since the release of the initial version from some days ago. The number of optimizations and hashrate improvements with pretty much each major update has been tremendous, bringing back to life many of the old AMD Radeon GPUs such as 7950/7970 or the 280X, some of the most popular mining video cards for the last few years. The latest release, already a major version 6 brought more fixes and optimizations in terms of performance. As one would expect Nvidia is left behind once more, even though there were some signs that recently it was starting to catch up to the levels of performance of AMD GPUs, it is now yet again significantly slower. So owners of Nvidia-based mining rigs might want to switch to some other alternative for mining at the moment after the latest performance boosts from Claymore. Do have in mind however that Claymore’s Zcash miner does come with a 2.5% dev fee, below is a list of major changes and updates of the miner after the initial release:

For now this Part 1 covers the basic setup and configuration of getting the EWBF miner running and shares being submitted to a pool.
